How to Use the Standup Dashboard in EDGEBIC

The standup dashboard tab in EDGEBIC by User Solutions is built for the morning production meeting: a Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost band, an Andon strip of colored work-center tiles, a clickable late-jobs list, and a bottleneck panel, all in a dark floor-TV theme for a wall screen. It is the tab you leave up on a monitor and read from top to bottom to run a ten-minute standup.

Before You Start

  • Today's jobs are scheduled. The standup tab reads today's schedules and orders.
  • Operators are logging starts and finishes through the kiosk. The Andon colors are inferred from those actuals.
  • You accept there is no auto-refresh. Click Refresh now at the start of the meeting.

Step 1: Open the Standup Tab

Open the Dashboard section from the main navigation and click the Standup tab. It switches automatically to the dark floor-TV theme, which is tuned for a wall-mounted display. Connect it to your floor monitor and click Refresh now to load today's picture.

Step 2: Read the SQDC Band

The top band follows the lean Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost mnemonic:

  • Safety and Quality currently show a dash with an Offline chip, because there is no incident or defect log to compute them from yet.
  • Delivery shows on-time performance and carries a Plan chip.
  • Cost shows a variance figure and carries a Live chip.

The dashes are deliberate honesty: the board states what it cannot yet compute rather than inventing a number.

Step 3: Read the Andon Strip

Each active work center is one colored tile. Green means running on plan, yellow means the elapsed time has run past 125 percent of the planned duration, red means the station is past its planned start with no logged start, idle means nothing is active or imminent, blue means a material wait, and white means planned downtime. Because the state is inferred from schedule actuals rather than machine sensors, a tile is only as accurate as the promptness of kiosk logging on that station.

Step 4: Work the Late Jobs and Bottleneck Panel

The late-jobs list ranks the jobs behind their due date. Click a row to jump straight to that job's Gantt for a closer look. The bottleneck panel shows the constraint station's load today and its seven-day average, which is the number to drive the standup off. A buffer figure of zero on that panel is a not-yet-populated placeholder; read the load percentages, not the buffer.

How to Check It Worked

The tab is read-only, so nothing is saved. Confirm it worked by checking that a station you know is running shows green on the Andon strip after a refresh. If it shows red, check whether the operator logged the start through the kiosk; an unlogged start paints the tile red even while the machine runs.

Common Mistakes

  • Distrusting a surprising red tile. A red usually means the start was not logged, not that the job stopped. Check the kiosk before doubting the board.
  • Reading the Safety or Quality dash as broken. They are honest Offline states until the underlying logs exist.
  • Over-reading the buffer figure. It is a placeholder at zero. Drive the standup off the load percentages instead.
  • Forgetting to refresh. There is no auto-refresh timer. A stale board shows the last activation, not the current shift.

Expert Q&A: Deep Dive

Q: A work center shows red on the Andon strip but the operator says the job is running fine. Who is right?

A: Both can be right, and the gap between them is a logging gap. The Andon color is inferred from schedule actuals, so a station reads red when it is past its planned start with no actual start recorded. If the operator started the job but did not punch in through the kiosk, the strip has no evidence the job began and paints it red even though the machine is cutting metal. The fix is not to distrust the board but to tighten kiosk discipline: once the start is logged, the tile flips to green on the next refresh. Treat a surprising red as a prompt to check whether the start was captured, not as a false alarm to ignore.

Q: The bottleneck panel shows a buffer figure of zero. Does that mean the constraint has no protection?

A: No, it means buffer telemetry is a placeholder that is not populated yet, so read the zero as not-measured rather than as no-buffer. The bottleneck panel today gives you a real and useful today-load percent and a seven-day average load for the constraint station, which is what you should be reading in the standup. The buffer-consumption figure is reserved for a later capability and sits at zero until then. Do not interpret it as the constraint being unprotected or fully consumed; simply ignore that field for now and drive the meeting off the load percentages, which are live.
