To view a customer's order history in EDGEBIC by User Solutions, open the Customers tab, find the customer, and click the view-history button on their row. The Customer Order History dialog opens with two tabs, one for manufacturing orders and one for quotes, and lists every record for that account in one place. It is the fastest answer to "what are we building for this customer, and what have we promised them?" For the concepts behind customer records, read customers and departments explained.

Before you start

  • The customer record exists. If not, see how to add a customer.
  • The customer has at least one order or quote, or the tabs will simply show zero counts.
  • You know what you are looking for: an open job's status, a past quote, or a pre-deletion check of what is attached to the account.
  • Remember the dialog is read-only. Edits happen on the order itself, from the schedule.

Steps

  1. Open the Customers tab from the main navigation.
  2. Find the customer. Type a fragment of the name or Id into the grid's search panel.
  3. Click the view-history button in the customer's row. The tooltip reads View History.
  4. The Customer Order History dialog opens, titled with the customer's name. It has two tabs:
    • Manufacturing Orders, with columns for job number, product, quantity, due date, status, and estimated cost.
    • Quotes, with columns for quote number, product, quantity, quote date, expiry, status, and total.
  5. The tab captions show the counts, so you can see at a glance how many orders and how many quotes exist without opening each tab.
  6. Read what you need, then click Close.

What the dialog shows and what it does not change

The dialog gathers, it does not act. Nothing you do inside it moves a job, changes a quote, or touches the schedule. It is a summary view assembled from records that live elsewhere.

TabColumnsAnswers
Manufacturing OrdersJob number, product, quantity, due date, status, estimated costWhat is this account building, and where does each job stand
QuotesQuote number, product, quantity, quote date, expiry, status, totalWhat have we quoted this account, and what is still live

To act on anything you find, open the order from the schedule, where it is editable, or open the quote from the quotes area. The history dialog points you there; it is not the place to make the change.

How to check it worked

  1. Confirm the dialog title carries the customer's name, so you are certain you opened the right account.
  2. Compare the tab count on Manufacturing Orders against what you expect for the customer. A surprising count is often the sign of a duplicate customer record splitting the history.
  3. Cross-check one job number from the dialog against the schedule. It should be the same job, with the same status.
  4. If a job you expected is missing, check whether it was raised against a different customer record. Duplicate accounts are the usual reason history looks incomplete.

Common mistakes

Trying to edit in the dialog. It is read-only by design. Open the order from the schedule to change it.

Reading incomplete history as missing jobs. If a customer was accidentally duplicated, their orders split across two records and each history dialog shows only part of the story. Consolidate duplicates by re-pointing orders to one record.

Skipping the history check before a delete. The delete confirmation does not list what is linked. The history dialog is the only pre-flight view of the orders and quotes that would lose their customer link, so open it first and prefer deactivation if anything is live. See how to deactivate a product without losing history for the same principle applied to products.

Expecting the history to reflect scheduling priority. It does not. The customer is a traceability link, and every date and priority the scheduler acts on sits on the order itself.

Expert Q&A: Deep Dive

Q: A customer called about a job but we only have a partial job number. How do we find it fast?

A: Go through the customer rather than the schedule. Open the Customers tab, find the account, and click the view-history button on its row, which opens a dialog listing every manufacturing order for that customer with job number, product, quantity, due date, status, and estimated cost. Scanning one account's jobs is faster than filtering the whole schedule on a partial number, and the same dialog carries a Quotes tab, so if the caller was asking about something not yet an order you will find it there instead. It is the one place that answers what are we building for this account without cross-referencing screens.

Q: Before deleting a customer, how do we know what is attached to them?

A: Open their order history first. The delete confirmation does not itemize what is linked, so the history dialog is the only pre-flight check that shows you the manufacturing orders and quotes at risk of losing their customer link. Deleting does not delete those records, but it does blank their customer field, and re-linking them afterwards is manual. If the history dialog shows open jobs or live quotes, deactivate the customer instead of deleting it, which keeps every link intact while removing the account from new-work dropdowns.
