To read the operator calendar in EDGEBIC by User Solutions, open the Workcenter tab's Resource Calendar and set Show to Operators, or Both. This switches the calendar to the people lens: per-operator and per-skill-pool availability versus booked hours over time. Availability is the roster times the shift's daily hours, zeroed on time-off days; booked is the sum of the crew assignments. It is the human mirror of machine capacity, and it is where you diagnose why a skill-gated step slid past free machine hours.

Step 1: Open the Resource Calendar in the People Lens
Open the Workcenter tab and go to the Resource Calendar. Set Show to Operators to see the people lens alone, or Both to see people alongside machine capacity. The calendar now presents availability and booked hours for operators over time.
Step 2: Read Availability Against Booked
Each cell pairs two numbers: availability and booked.

The gap between them is free capacity. When availability is above zero but booked equals it, the pool is full: a skill-gated step cannot land there and slides to the next window with room. This is the exact place an otherwise puzzling slide becomes legible.
Step 3: Read a Skill Pool Versus a Person
The calendar shows both per-operator rows and per-skill-pool rows. A pool row is the live sum of the member operators' cells for that skill. A multi-skilled operator appears in every pool they hold, with the same hours in each, because the pools are views over one budget, not separate budgets. Read the person's own row for their true daily budget, and the pool row for how that budget aggregates across everyone certified in the skill.
Step 4: Act on What You See
If a pool is empty on the days a step needed it, roster or certify more people on those days. If it is booked solid, the qualified capacity genuinely ran out and something has to move: a due date, a pin, or another certified person taking part of the load. The calendar does not decide for you; it shows the constraint clearly enough to decide.

How to Check You Read It Right
A person's availability on a rostered day equals their shift's hours, and drops to zero on a recorded time-off day. A skill pool equals the sum of its certified, rostered members. If a multi-skilled operator's two pools show different numbers for the same day, something is off in the underlying data, because both pools draw on the same single budget.

- Reading booked as actuals. Booked is the plan. Who actually worked comes from kiosk punches.
- Treating each skill pool as separate capacity. Pools are views over one budget. A multi-skilled person is not double-counted.
- Reading the calendar before a run. With no scheduling run, booked hours have nothing to show.
- Ignoring an empty pool on the slide days. An empty pool is the cause of the slide, not a display quirk.
