The calculation, step by step

Weighted tardiness is built from two pieces per job, then summed.

First, tardiness. For a job, take the hours it finishes past its due date. If it finishes early or on time, its tardiness is zero. There is no credit for finishing early: a job one week ahead scores the same zero as one that lands exactly on its date. This floor keeps the measure focused on jobs at risk.

Second, the weight. Each job's tardiness is scaled by a weight derived from its priority.
