How to Reschedule Only the Jobs That Changed in EDGEBIC

To reschedule only the jobs that changed in EDGEBIC, tick just those rows on the Drive Schedule tab and press Schedule + Re-Schedule, or press the Re-Schedule button after saving Gantt edits. EDGEBIC by User Solutions scopes the run to your selection, so every job you did not touch keeps its plan and its reserved capacity. There is no mode to choose. The rows you tick, and the confirm dialog you approve, are the entire scope control.

This is the targeted-reschedule procedure. For the full mechanism, read EDGEBIC rescheduling explained; for the everyday workflow, how to run the scheduler in EDGEBIC covers the basic pass. It is one of the task guides in the EDGEBIC how-to hub.

Before You Start

PrerequisiteWhy it matters
The jobs you changed are already scheduledTargeted rescheduling replans existing jobs; a brand-new job is a first-time schedule instead.
Actuals are logged and currentRemaining steps resume from where the floor actually is, so log before you replan.
You know exactly which jobs changedThe scope is your selection. Tick the wrong rows and you replan the wrong work.

Reschedule Changed Jobs From the Drive Schedule Tab

  1. Open the Drive Schedule tab. Every job sits on the grid with its Status, Start Date, Item Start, Job End and Days Late.
  2. Tick the Select checkbox on each job you changed. Leave every other row unticked.
  3. Press Schedule + Re-Schedule.
  4. Read the Confirm Scheduling dialog. It states the split, for example "You are about to schedule 3 job(s): 0 new, 3 existing." That count is your last cheap check that the scope is right.
  5. Answer Yes and watch the progress overlay. The grid is locked while the pass runs and unlocks when it finishes.

Do not answer Yes to the Schedule All Orders prompt unless you mean it. That prompt only appears when no rows are ticked, and answering yes pulls every order into the run.

Reschedule Changed Jobs After a Gantt Edit

When the change was a manual drag rather than a data edit, use the dedicated button:

  1. On the Schedule View or Job View tab, drag the bars you want to move and press Save Changes to record them.
  2. Press Re-Schedule. It collects only the jobs you modified since the last run and replans exactly those.
  3. Confirm the prompt, which warns that the selected jobs' schedules will be cleared and regenerated.

The Job View tab's Re-Schedule button does the same thing for the selected job's context. Both leave every other job, and its reserved capacity, exactly where it was.

What Changes When You Run

A targeted pass touches a deliberately narrow surface:

SurfaceEffect
Selected jobsTheir not-started operations get new planned start and end times against current capacity.
Completed operationsPreserved verbatim. Recorded work is never moved, shrunk, or recomputed.
In-progress operationsThe logged hours stay on their real days; only the remaining hours are replanned on the same work center.
Unselected jobsUntouched. Their bars stay, and their reserved hours are respected by everything replanned around them.
Audit trailA new reschedule event is added to each replanned job, with old dates next to new dates.

The point of a targeted run is stability. On a loaded plant, the shop floor trusts a plan that does not churn, so replanning ten jobs when only three changed is a habit worth breaking.

How to Check It Worked

Spend thirty seconds confirming the scope held:

  1. Pick one job you did not select and compare its Start Date and Job End before and after. They must be identical.
  2. Open a replanned job in Job View and read the hours header. Actual Hours must be unchanged; only planned timing should have moved.
  3. Press Job Audit on a replanned job (or right-click a bar on Schedule View and choose View Audit Trail). The newest entry is your reschedule, with old and new dates side by side. Untouched jobs carry no new entry.

If a job you expected to move stayed nailed down, it is carrying a planned-start pin, a saved override, or an actual start. Those all beat a fresh reschedule by design.

Common Mistakes and Gotchas

  • Answering yes to Schedule All Orders. That prompt appears only when nothing is ticked. Answer no, tick your specific rows, and run again. The confirm dialog's job count is the safety net that catches this before anything writes.
  • Pressing Re-Schedule without saving Gantt drags first. The button collects only jobs modified since the last run. Unsaved drags exist on your screen only, so it reports no modified jobs. Save, then Re-Schedule.
  • Rescheduling against stale actuals. Remaining steps resume from the last logged position. If the floor has moved on but nobody logged it, the replan resumes from fiction. Log first, replan second.
  • Expecting a master-data edit to ripple on its own. Editing a shift, holiday, routing, or capacity does not move any plan by itself. Make the change, tick the affected jobs, and run the targeted pass.

For the wider habit of holding a plan steady, see keeping schedules stable week to week and how EDGEBIC reduces schedule churn. To replan exactly one job, how to schedule a single job in EDGEBIC is the narrower recipe, and how to see which jobs a run will touch before you commit confirms the scope first.

Tick only the rows for the jobs you changed on the Drive Schedule tab, then press Schedule + Re-Schedule. The pass replans just the selected jobs. Every job you did not tick keeps its existing plan and its reserved capacity, and the changed jobs fit around those reservations. There is no scheduling mode to pick: the tick boxes define the scope.

No. Jobs you did not select keep their dates and their capacity reservations, and the scheduler plans your changed jobs around them. Targeted rescheduling is the safe option on a busy plant precisely because it cannot disturb work you never touched. If bars you did not select appear to move, check whether you answered yes to the Schedule All Orders prompt.

The Re-Schedule button on the Job View and Schedule View tabs replans only the jobs you modified since the last run, which is ideal after saving Gantt drags. Schedule + Re-Schedule on the Drive Schedule tab plans whatever rows you tick, whether they are brand new or already scheduled. Both respect completed work and unselected jobs.

Expert Q&A: Deep Dive

Q: I edited the due date on three jobs. How do I replan just those without touching the other forty on the plan?

A: Tick the three rows on the Drive Schedule tab and press Schedule + Re-Schedule. The confirm dialog will report three existing jobs to be rescheduled and zero new jobs. Answer yes. The other forty keep their exact dates and their reserved hours, and the three changed jobs are placed into whatever capacity is left. Confirm nothing else moved by glancing at any untouched job's Start Date before and after.

Q: After dragging two bars on the Gantt, which button replans only those two?

A: Save the drags first, then press Re-Schedule on the Schedule View or Job View tab. It collects only the jobs you modified since the last run, so exactly those two are replanned and every other job is left alone. If you press Re-Schedule without saving first, it reports no modified jobs to reschedule, which is the tell that your drags are still pending on screen only.
