How to Assign a Unit of Measure to an Existing Product in EDGEBIC
To assign a unit of measure to an existing product in EDGEBIC by User Solutions, open the product for editing, choose the unit from the unit of measure dropdown, and save. The field carries a select unit placeholder until something is picked, which is exactly what a product created before your units existed will show.

Step 1: Find the Products Missing a Unit
Open the Product tab. The grid carries a Unit column.
Sort or group on it. Everything with an empty value is on your list, and grouping tells you immediately whether this is a five minute job or a morning.
Group the work sensibly rather than alphabetically. Products in the same category almost always share a unit, so the category filter on the toolbar is the fastest way to work through a large catalog in batches you can set consistently.
Step 2: Open the Product
Click the edit control on the product's row. The Product Configuration dialog opens with the product's fields.
Step 3: Choose the Unit
Find the Unit of Measure field. Until a unit is chosen it shows a select unit placeholder.
Pick the unit that matches how the product is actually counted on the floor, not how it is sold or how it appears on a purchase order. The unit shows up in grids, in reports, and on shop floor screens where operators record what they made, so it should mean something to the person reading it there.
Step 4: Save
Click Save. The dialog closes and the grid shows the symbol in the unit column.
Step 5: Work the Rest of the Group
Repeat across the filtered batch, then move to the next category.
If the catalog is large and the products came from a file, consider whether a re-import is the better answer. How to Check It Worked
- The unit column is populated. Group the grid by unit again: the empty group should be gone, or down to the products that genuinely have no sensible unit.
- The symbol is the one you meant. Grids show the short symbol, so confirm it reads the way the floor expects.
- Check a shop floor screen. Open a job on the product and confirm the unit appears where quantities are recorded.
- Check a report. Any report showing quantities for that product should now carry the unit alongside the number.
Common Mistakes
Creating a new unit from inside the rush. If the unit you want is missing, it is tempting to type a near-duplicate of one that exists. Stop, add the unit properly, then come back. Duplicates are far more expensive to unpick later than they are to avoid now.
Assuming the unit converts something. It does not. If a product's quantities were recorded in pounds and you label it kilograms, every number in the system is now wrong by a factor of 2.2 and nothing warned you.
Setting the unit from the sales side. A product sold by the box and made by the piece should carry the unit the floor counts in, because that is where the number gets typed.
Leaving the job half done. A catalog where two thirds of products show a unit is harder to read than one where none do, because the missing ones look like data errors rather than a known gap.
Doing this after the routings and orders. Do it before reporting matters. Units are cheap to set on a quiet afternoon and awkward to change once people are reading numbers off them daily.
